At Llamau we believe that no one should ever have to experience homelessness. But for thousands of the most vulnerable people in Wales, homelessness is a frightening reality. We believe that we all have the right to fulfil our potential, and to feel safe and secure, despite the difficult circumstances we sometimes face.
In Bridgend, our floating support services include:
A mediation service to help prevent homelessness, by mediating between young people and their families to address any issues that maybe causing issues in the household.
A Tenancy Crisis Scheme for 16- 21 year olds where they maybe homeless or potentially homeless. We offer support for up to 6 weeks to look for suitable, sustainable accommodation, support to remain in their home, budgeting advice, and advice and support on enhancing independent living skills.
An Early doors service for people of any age who are in private rented accommodation and have rent arrears. Landlords are often the first people to realise that there may be a problem. Once the landlord has gained written consent, we can offer support and advice to the tenant on addressing issues that maybe causing the rent arrears. We work impartially with both Landlord and Tenant to hopefully reach an agreeable solution and therefore avoid an eviction, which can be stressful and costly to both parties.
A supported lodgings scheme, that offers young people aged between 16-21, the opportunity to live with Supported Lodgings providers in the community, in their own home. You people can thrive, if only given the chance to live in a homely environment. Llamau are currently looking to recruit Providers who could earn an Allowance of up to £140 per week. If you have a spare room to offer a young person, we would be interested to hear from you.
EMPHASIS is a 6 month pilot project delivered within Bridgend County, which aims to provide an intensive and assertive outreach program to the most excluded and non-engaging 14-21 year olds, who are most at risk of homelessness. Each Young Person’s will have an advice worker who will provide long-term support. The scheme will promote engagement in work, training or education, whilst addressing any other issues that young people maybe facing.
